A Great Start.....

The first meeting of the Delmarva African American Historical & Genealogical Society was a small but enthusiastic beginning.  October is a busy time for many, so we are particularly grateful that Noreen Goodson drove from Baltimore to attend, representing the Baltmore (Agnes Kane Callum) Chapter of the AAHGS.  She offered suggestions, ideas, and encouragement for our organization.

For those interested to learn more about the Baltimore AAGHS, visit their websites at either Baahgs.org or www.baahgs.wordpress.com.

FYI -- The 2012 Baltimore Family History Workshop will be held Saturday, Oct. 13th at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Baltimore, at 120 Stemmers Run Road in Essex, Maryland.  The conference and workshops are free and sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Baltimore Maryland Stake.  For more information, visit www.BaltimoreFamilyHistoryWorkshop.org.

Topic:  What's in a Surname?

Sharing Surnames is a good way to start to get to know one another and to let others know what we're researching.  Let's discuss how we can help one another.  See you there.

Kimberly Conway Dumpson is hosting the first meeting, at UMES.

We know not everyone can make it to this first meeting.  But keep in mind, there will be others soon, at different locations.  And you will be kept informed here of what we are forming.  Feel free to contact us for more information.  Contact Linda Duyer at 443-366-2451 or at lindaduyer1@yahoo.com.
